Gardening Tales

Seemed everyone had something on their mind? When I got home, I stepped outside to check on my garden.. was when I noticed one of the Myna's missing?
You may recall a post I did of the bed below full of Walking Blue Iris..
This is the last of them
A troublesome flat in the wheel barrel was finally fixed thanks to my husband!
Here is the empty bed..only it really doesn't look so big here, yet it was actually
18x4' before I extended the width over the last week. It's raised with lava rocks..and lucky most of it was in place from a few years back when I had a  lot more energy!!

Pictured below are two of my son's donkeys..they not only mow all of his grass, but he brought me a couple of nice buckets of manure for the mix-

Back to the missing Myna..
I peeked in the wheel barrel and he
seemed to have a pretty good idea who it might be!
Ya, well this one wasn't saying anything..
And she only wanted to play with her Flippy Flopper!
Just when I thought the worst..he strolls up?

Puddy Please.. Let Me Know If This Works?

The smallest feline is a masterpiece
 Leonardo da Vinci~

I'd like to get to know you..

When a dog barks at the moon, then it is religion; but when he barks at strangers, it is patriotism!

 Kittens can happen to anyone.
Paul Gallico~

There's no need for a piece of sculpture in a home that has a cat
A man may smile and bid you hail
Yet wish you to the devil; But when a good dog wags his tail,
You know he's on the level

Well, thanks for those of you who tried to comment but couldn't do so..also thank you Sandra and Ginny for dropping me a line (others may not have my address?) Anyhow, if this doesn't work, I will patiently wait for blogger to troubleshoot.  (smile..maybe frown)

Spring In Macro With Morrison

And a sprinkle of Romantic Musings..
(this was one of my favorites off this album- Hymns to the Silence)

Ay, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God
But let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you

Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone
though they quiver with the same music
Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow
Kahlil Gibran~

(Jackson Chameleon)
I'm still working on my garden (so a little behind)..
will stop by to visit you shortly- thanks~

Let Us Not Forget

.. this is our first and most important obligation: defend the right to speak the truth.
"Neutrality in the face of evil is evil."
(Geert Wilder's warning in Nashville TN.)-

With the more than 48 million George Soros has contributed to Media and journalism..(to spread his Open Borders Society) it would probably be a chilly day in hell before you'd see the following video on any major news site-

(Warburg, Syrian Orthodox monastery)
Sister Hatune's struggle for human rights followed by a few more excerpts from Geert Wilder's visit, May 12th of this month- again- warning the West.

"We have been silenced by cultural relativism, collective racial guilt, and political correctness for too long. The doctrine of political correctness, is nothing but the Left’s tool to silence truth. It has been a very effective tool, now it has turned deadly"
We can see what Islam has in store for us if we watch the fate of the Christians in the Islamic world, such as the Copts in Egypt, the Maronites in Lebanon, the Assyrians in Iraq, and Christians elsewhere.

Almost every day, churches are arsoned and Christians are assassinated in Islamic countries.
Rivers of tears are flowing from the Middle East, where there is only one safe haven for Christians. You know where that is? The only place in the Middle East where Christians are safe is Israel.
That is why Israel deserves our support. Israel is a safe haven for everyone, whatever their belief and opinions. Israel is a beacon of light in a region of total darkness. Israel is fighting our fight.
The jihad against Israel is a jihad against all of us. If Israel falls, we, too, will feel the consequences. If Jerusalem falls, Athens, Rome, Amsterdam and Nashville will fall. Therefore, we all are Israel."

Crimson On Stone

Stone
A morning dove breaks the darkness
Spring
Changed into every shade of green
Crimson
Came before in May
In vain they tried to wake the gray
But Winter left a thicker coat
Black
&
White
It lies between the deepest sound

"And this, knowing the time, that for us, the hour already is to be aroused out of sleep, for now nearer is our salvation than when we did believe;

Mother's Day Story

A still from a home video of my mother (right) who will be 90 years old in less than two weeks.

When she married my dad in 1943, she was swept away along with the heady scented Mountains of Laurel Canyon, California where she'd grown up. Like a weathervane on a rooftop, or just something strange in the forecast..she took a road that would lead us into a valley. Though she came from another era, it wasn't as if we lived so far away? But like a powerful wind that shifted..it created an invisible barrier- making crossing difficult.
Yet my mom opened the window of memories in the dim light of an ordinary city in San Gabriel. Stories she'd recount became a backdrop.

Like the slides we watched, sitting around the living room floor in front of our old projector. They etched a pathway into my psyche through photographs (My Grandma's Hatbox-earlier post) and post cards. It was in the silver I set (kept away for special occasions), a manger scene, or the same box of decorations I'd reached into year after year.

I remember looking in her eyes as she held an ornament up-  fondly associating it with another time. It was when I'd hear her tell of the chapel my Grandpa built and the Holly and Poinsettia's my Grandparent's cut in the yard together. They'd been close and never said harsh words in front of her or her siblings.
She kept no journals..images were transmitted through characters. They- German's and Swedes..with cigars and smiles shaded under hats. Impressions left on faces..faces she once read. I held onto a vision..and like dreams, they can fade. We will dream again, but we must have a heavenly vision. Just as the prophets of old, who saw the future from the past and foretold-
Like a recipe, we'll construct and shape it to be sure, but this I learned-

Thanks for letting me share this with you..
A Happy Mother's Day to all you mum's~

The Flash of a Firefly

(Meanwhile)
These were taken along the Saddle-
on that shopping run to the other side of the Island last week-

As the pipes keep the shape of the wind
Even when the wind has fled
And is no longer there
So words keep the shape of man
Even when man has fled
And longer there~
George Seferis

What is life
It is the flash of a firefly
In the night
It is the breath of a buffalo
In the wintertime
It is the little shadow
Which runs across the grass
&
Loses itself in the sunset~

Fern Fever

 Not again..you can't be serious?
(He wouldn't let me pass)
A couple of you asked about the header..this is the same unfurling. I did a little online search- (I gave up wading through).. so closest match found-
Palapala (microlepia strigosa) I'd welcome any corrections?
Below are Amau (Sadleria cyatheoides) taken on a run to Costco last weekend along Saddle rd. (The trunks of the 'Ama'u resemble that of the Hāpu'u fern (I thought was) in that it has a golden-orange, soft, velvety hair, or pulu, that was used in the past as a stuffing for pillows and mattresses.)..even had a factory!

My only thoughts are that these look better up close -the beauty of macros(lol)..I suppose it depends on the location?

Let's be perfectly clear- the war on free speech is spiritual!
