It's A Mad Madd World

Superman..why sure I believe in him!
It was a double moon, and I was doubly tired!
After all, my tights had been ill fitted..
But I was certain counting sheep
Would of helped me
Drift off to sleep?
Still, I kept tossing
&
Turning-
Both of my cheeks
:
What a day..
I was truly a fright-
With Taxidermy lessons
At a quarter
Past eight
&
Sensitivity training-
I was running late
:
Leftovers
Had merely been a suggestion
Well.. maybe you can imagine
The look
On Daisy's face?
You see,
It was simply out of the question!

So I rushed about muttering
Just how I'd be back
To peel those potatoes..
Get that pot roast
In on time!

Then it occurred to me..

Clark Kent
Must of dropped in
On Hawaiian Tel?
:
But to my surprise
A thief
Made off with His cape
Discarding his threads
With
 A lit cigarette
:
Scratching my chin
I figured just then
A disguise
Is a disguise..
So I picked up that smoke
For indeed- there was hope
Gave a little smile
 Finished off his toke~

The Eternal Spring

Los Angeles and the surrounding environs brought the promise of eternal spring and architectural fantasy creations in abundance, accessible from one’s own automobile
Disneyland was so successful that within the first six months of it’s opening on July 17, 1955, a million people had already passed through its gates. In its first decade, one quarter of the United States population had visited Disneyland, and in its 50th year, over 500 million people had visited Disneyland.

Nothing else except maybe Pacific Ocean Park, was like Disneyland when it was created- visit here to read its amusing ancestry.
The first roller coaster built in America was a gravity powered mine train. After the mine shut down, the coaster became a full-time attraction. This coaster was powered by gravity. When two mules brought the coaster up the hill and let the coaster go, the gravity would kick in, and the coaster would fly down the hill. While it is going down, the cart seems to coast. That is probably why it got the name "roller coaster".

(Disneyland back in the mid 70's)

Energy-
Kinetic energy is the Greek word for move. The word energy combined with Kinetic means the ability to move. The greater the mass and speed the greater the amount of kinetic energy there is. As a roller coaster goes down a hill potential energy that is stored is turned to kinetic energy. Potential energy is stored energy.
Why am I going here? Because I remember when I was small, I used to run and leap over the ivy my dad had growing all around our house..well I can't get that energy back, but I know I'm not alone either..

The Fountain of Youth was a mythic spring that would supposedly grant eternal life and vigor to whoever drank from it. Legends and myths about the tale have existed since ancient times, but the most famous concerns the exploration of the New World (Robert Vaux)

My friend Ginny, just posted something about this here (The Fountain of Life), maybe you'd like to check it out-
"People are more intrigued by the story of looking and not finding than they are by the idea that the fountain might be out there somewhere," says Ryan Smith, in the thrill of the chase.  Is that what you meant Ginny?

During his twilight years, American author Mark Twain noted that "life would be infinitely happier if we could only be born at the age of 80 and gradually approach 18."
Twain's quip was only one of many complaints about aging that have been recorded for as long as humans have dreaded the downside of a long life. The ancient Greek poet Homer called old age "loathsome," and William Shakespeare termed it "hideous winter."

So it's not hard to understand why there have always been hopes and rumors that something soon to be discovered—magic waters, say, or maybe stem cell research—will do away with old age.

Alexander the Great, who conquered most of the known world before he died around 323 B.C., may have been looking for a river that healed the ravages of age.

Rev. 21:6 "Then He said to me, "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost".

At first glance, 2 Cor 4: 7-12 doesn't sound so fuzzy..but it really is good news-
"But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you"
:
Zoe~means absolute fullness of life, both essential and ethical, which belongs to God, and through him both to the hypostatic "logos" and to Christ in whom the "logos" put on human nature
Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgement, but has passed out of death into life" (John 5:24

When I Set Out To Pray

Note..I wrote this one shortly before launching Kilauea Poetry, though I was too chicken to post it here?

(Of course you should enlarge)
While contemplating my present state
And rather attribute it’ all to fate
I figured in blooming, perhaps I was late
That for all my sincerity
It seems a bit queer
In extending a hand
Could lose you a fan
.
I gave some more thought
Then smoked a little pot (just teasing)
Now I’d set out to pray
Figuring it the best way

But all attempts in the matter
Were abruptly assailed
Thoughts became scattered
Like moths in the night
.
I thought of my son
Probably caused him duress
My cheeky comments
To those blogs he’s been mounting
True true, it’s merely a guess
But just like a freight train
It picked up no less
.
Then Jennifer Anniston
That fuss about her nose..
Ya,
Well it flooded my mind
Like a garden hose
Angelina Jolie, the U.N. and Brad
Those orphans and Billy Bob
An if that’s why he ran?
.
Closed my eyes tight
To help get a grip
Always conscious
Of my own little sin
But this proved brief
As I managed a spin
Perhaps that I should’a
Been on my knees
.
Now it’s all just a blur
Why it occurred just then?
That I’d never tried
Any Limburger Cheese!
.
Before you get feeling
Ever so obliged
Offering advice
Be it humble or nice
Just make sure
It hasn’t happened
To you more than twice~

The Circle Game Pt. 1

"Yesterday, a child came out to wander
Caught a dragonfly inside a jar
Fearful when the sky was full of thunder
And tearful at the falling of a star

.
And the seasons they go 'round and 'round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time"
 (remember the song)?

Sometimes I wonder, how could I own  a droplet- or hold less than a teaspoon of memory infused with so much delight? Yet there I stood among the crowd, maybe seven or eight?..no doubt near a carousel -intoxicated with all the sights and sounds! P.O.P. as they called it. Check this link so you can see how phenomenal (Pacific Ocean Park) in California was- and that place left a profound impression! I can't recall much else as I was really young? On the other hand, memories of Disneyland are vivid..mainly because there were a few more trips and I happen to be older by then. Sadly, most of P.O.P was burned down in a fire, then finally demolished in the 70's.

The word muse means “to be absorbed in one’s thoughts; engage in meditation, to consider or say thoughtfully; a state of meditation”  In Greek mythology, the muses were the nine daughters of Zeus and the Goddess of Memory, Mnemosyne, and each of the muses presided over a different art or science. So a muse can also mean a guiding spirit, a source of inspiration, or a poet

The word "amusement" means “the state of being amused, entertained or pleased” .. To cause to laugh or smile by giving pleasure.”

All an all, family excursions were few and far between..I'm sure it had something to do with the distance as well as having a big family?
Anyway, it was as if unseen hands placed a map over head like a cookie cutter then drew a line around and said to me- this is as far and how often you'll go- when and where you'll remain?
So my little neighborhood, tucked away in a smoggy little city like S. California, would be the ground I absorbed. (I keep that in mind and will get back to this)..
I'm also reminded of Acts 17:26 "..he made of one every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed seasons, and the bounds of their habitation"

"Sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now
Cartwheels turn to car wheels through the town
And they tell him, "Take your
time. It won't be long now.
'Til your drag your feet to slow the circles down"

Archaically, amuse means to delude or deceive, and comes from the late French muser “to stupefy,” and from Latin ad muser, to stare stupidly~ Kaleidoscope

You ever notice how people will jump on the bandwagon with the newest craze..then discard it like an old moccasin when something better comes along? I think I know why? Its wrapped in a mystery and a lie- but seems to hold so much promise? (Continued in Pt 2)...

"And the seasons they go 'round and 'round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game"
(Joni Mitchell)

That Doctor's Visit..

Different lines..

(I penned this while waiting for my appointment)She stepped outside
Yawned at the river
Then sat on a seat
Ran a comb
Through her hair

So I kept looking
Through the glass

Well she reached in her bag
For a bottle of spray
Gave a little wave
At her other half

She dotted the air
Then tore at some foil
Ate a pop tart
&
Dabbed at the crumbs

Well somehow I knew
When she reached for those smokes
But we..
We just kept looking
Through the glass~

Laughing lowers levels of stress hormones and strengthens the immune system.

Six-year-olds laugh an average of 300 times a day. Adults only laugh 15 to 100 times a day.

In most watch advertisements the time displayed on the watch is 10:10 because then the arms frame the brand of the watch and makes it look like its smiling

I have a little catching up to do, so I'll be by to visit you shortly- thanks-

Distracted By The Music

Ever notice when your in town shopping... going to the bank or what have you- various places of business generally have some kind of music going on in the background? I mean, someone must of been elected to make the decision for what the public will have listen to? It would be different if it happened to be what you might find yourself dancing to in the shower (lol) ..or sedate- like you'd find in a dentist office?
On the other hand, my first trip to the dentist shortly after moving to the islands was a little unusual? I found out the dentist graduated from the same private school as my brother (back in California) -classmates in fact. He acted amazed, and even remarked that he thought my teeth were in such good shape! I found it equally amazing that they highly suggested I use a little nitrous oxide- kick back and just enjoy the rock an roll they had playing!! Uh,this was a general teeth cleaning I might add.. I must of given them a certain impression?
Well, one Bank branch in town plays 70's (not what I'd consider classic either)? So you might find yourself standing in a long line like I was recently (one could only imagine what's going through the next guys head)..perhaps thinking of your grocery list, when suddenly you hear "Jim Dandy to the Rescue" - a familiar tune by Black Oak Arkansas, seeping into the room like someone just patted a dusty chair! So instead, I found myself catapulted back to the first California Jam in April of 1974 (out door rock concert)- staring up in bewilderment as Ruby Star ..who the lead singer refers to here as his "Kissing Cousin"- emerged on stage!  In a short red dress and high heels - she began belting out the back up to that song "Go Jim Dandy, Go..!!! What a strange group!! Some things just stick...even though I know nothing else about them. They just happened to be one of the featured bands that day..so no, I wouldn't expect you to remember? In fact I had to look her name up-
Can you believe I wasn't even 17yrs old yet? Yikes- I found this on good old youtube and decided it was too funny to pass up- I suggest you get some pop corn!
Gee, I went through a spandex phase, but  (paleeze)..check this guys pants out!! You can mute my tunes on the side bar but I doubt you'll be watching the whole video here..grin

Head Trips- Why Salt May Effect Our Judgment?

If your not up for the read, I do hope you'll enjoy the photos- thanks

Seeking the truth is a step..then gravity somehow begins pulling at us..reeling us into the center. A couple days ago, I did a little entertaining for a couple of folks who dropped in- barely in the same room at the same time..Interesting, I'd kind of describe it as oppressive only because it revolved around much bitterness, blame and that sort of thing (divorce)..where your sort of stuck in this realm for a time. So I just prayed, besides, there wasn't any reception..but neither was there a point outside for them to bring that sorrow, negativity or wounding to (as in perspective or better light) ..there is but they haven't done so. (I'll get back to this in a minute)

(A couple days go by)

Yesterday morning, I was sprinkling salt on snails and slugs that were chowing down on my flowers in the flower bed. Salt is deadly for them, but biblically, many of you know salt symbolizes both death and life as an offering with the sacrifice. What could be a better example than hurt, resulting in corruption or devastation..yet having an entirely new life in Christ? It's like a sunflower popping out of the compost!

A Connection? Possibly..
One thing I've noticed, lots of folks will point to the government as if our troubles have always started there. (I've been doing a lot of pointing too)!! But don't we make up the population which has influenced the shift in this country and beyond? Well, the political landscape has kind of morphed into the very religious one- many have ironically characterized (in a derogatory sense..as if religious could only be referring to some Christian sect or denomination)! Well, this connection came to me because many religious folks have approached my property from time to time (before we had a gate). I reasoned that they'd come because obviously, they had something they wanted to say to me?Well, honestly, no one group was really on my mind, just making an illustration for the following point)..

Reception and Judging:

We often hear that we aren't suppose to judge others, right? Well this is my understanding- if you don't have forgiveness, then what are you left with is blame or judgement -but judgement (as in finality)..within the natural realm - where guilt and bitterness is perpetuated.
However, are most people open to hearing what you have to say? How about if they were coming to your door? More importantly, do you think many people define themselves by what they don't or won't do (I don't go there, I don't drink this, I don't wear that, I don't celebrate ..)? Don't get me wrong..it's perfectly fine if you don't, but you think there might be a connection here with the same judgement as in finality?

What about you..do you keep things open if someone doesn't agree with you? If an individual you know happens to be a thief or appears kind of sleazy, (a conclusion we arrived at hopefully, from what I'd call- healthy critical judgement - essential I might add)..but do you simply write them off or will you keep some sort of opening (maybe for a future encounter)- perhaps the same way you'd like to be treated, i.e., (they could change)..I don't mean that they'll begin to see everything your way necessarily? See, you could be of any political persuasion- yet simply have your mind made up in the same way?

Anyway, I just wanted to illustrate the difference in this round-about way, that we indeed (and should) critique, analyze and judge, but the difference is -without finality~ where we keep an opening? Do you think that would work in our favor too? Lastly, could our views have anything to do with the way we view redemption?
Below, is some info and links I've included- in regard to salt..

"Salt is born of the purest of parents: the sun and the sea." ~Pythagoras

It is probably this, more than for any other reason, that some of the great civilizations first developed near deserts, and in desert climates: for example the Mediterranean, Mesoamerica, and Babylonia, at the edges of the "arid" zones. and close to known salt sources ....and in spite of the hardships of living in such inhospitable places.

The requirement in ancient times, and to this day, was to prevent the meat from deteriorating so that it could be kept long enough, to allow its gradual consumption over a period of time after the slaughter of the animal.

“Salt must be mingled with the substance to which it is added; it must penetrate and infuse in order to preserve.
Jesus, ~ “Lamb without blemish and without spot.” 1 Pt. 1:19

The shedding of blood signifies a violent death, killing or murder. Life is associated with blood that flows through our veins. Life was given up in the pouring out of its precious blood. Death occurred. ..The "blood of Christ" is a clear expression for the death of Christ. Blood is the symbol of sacrificial death; a life poured out in death. .. Hebrews 9:22 summarizes the whole Old Testament teaching on sacrifice. " And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness."

The whole Old Testament sacrifices find their fulfillment in the blood of Christ in His sacrificial death (Hebrews 9:7-28; 13:11-12).

Time & Dusk

My apologies for the missing blog..can we pretend that didn't happen? (lol)

Birds..
Movements echo
With the rising sun

Their song
Can't hold the morning long

We live and love

Long for closure

Time with dusk
May give disclosure~

Leaves & Saddle Rd, Pt. 2

These two photos were taken in February & March of 2009 as in the previous post..
Same area..this year (no sepia) doesn't this guy blend in with his surroundings? We saw goats and lots of Turkey's on the side of the road looking for food.
Can you guess where I might of taken the flowers..and what that is on the second one in front?

"Blessed is the man...
who's delight is in the law of the Lord-
and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers".
Ps 1:1-3

Figs and Leaves- Pt. 1

(Musings below photos)
These (along with my header), were taken in February and March of 2009..before the current drought.
We'd taken the Saddle Rd. to Kona- West.. I'm on Hilo- the East side
(map below).. you'll notice the
path through the middle of the island~
the narrow and winding Saddle Road, so named because it runs between the two major volcanic mountains, Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea (white mountain being covered in snow during winter)
This year it didn't snow..this Summer hasn't been as hot either.
(might as well enlarge these)
If you'll notice below, there wasn't much contrast with the ocean
(what your looking at beyond the sheep) as
Kona tends to get most of the sulfur dioxide.

Anyway, I was thinking of the fig tree and why Jesus cursed it?
Well I know one thing, God's intention..(what He made provision for),was so that through
Christ- we could bear fruit in any season..

Jer. 17: 7-8 "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD
And whose trust is the LORD.
“For he will be like a tree planted by the water,
That extends its roots by a stream
And will not fear when the heat comes;
But its leaves will be green,
And it will not be anxious in a year of drought
Nor cease to yield fruit.

Soft open grassy fields

Let's be perfectly clear- the war on free speech is spiritual!
