The Sound Of Silence

Did you say something?

Did you?

Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
(Simon & Garfunkel)
Silence..
If we listen
We might hear it
Speaking
*
Mauna Loa-  (long mountain)

We took a drive up to Mauna Kea to play in the snow on Sunday Then we hiked maybe a quarter
of a mile to Lake Waiau (why-ow)
which means swirling water of a current
(coming up next)
The actual hike is at 13,020 feet above sea level and above 40% of the Earth's atmosphere. Ya, I did some huffing and puffing! I was determined thought~

I always like the photos of your big German Shepherd. Funny, you're in the snow and I'm in the jungle with lizards and flowers. 13,000 ft is REALLY way up there! I didn't know Mauna Kea was that high!

Breathtaking! (quite literally, huh?!). Just beautiful, and I still love that Simon & Garfunkel song. In fact, my 8th grade class sang that for our graduation. Oh, the memories ;) I truly never thought I would see snow in Hawaii.. so pretty. And - If I haven't thanked you yet... Thank you also for your sweet comments regarding the passing of my grandmother. Bless you, friend! -Tammy

Big Headers!!! Yes!!! You've redone your whole blog! You have redecorated!! It looks fabulous!!! But I'm glad you kept the same music, I love that one song. I LOVE your picture of that one tree!! And your header, it is way cool! At first glance, I thought it was a wolf howling at the moon! Can't wait to see the rest of your hike.

This song brings me back to the older time.

I always talk to the silence of the Nature when I am inside the jungle. It is like talking to my inner self.

I was huffing and puffing today as I climbed a slight hill and then a bigger one up to the hospital. I wonder how I'd do where you were, lol. I love the song you've quoted. Just so nice and mellow.

What a wonderful post! Love the dog - I grew up with Shepherds. Aren't they the greatest dog ever? We have two little "pretend" dogs, a Yorkie mix and a Shih Tsu. A Shepherd is a REAL dog!
~~~I love the islands. We were fortunate enough to visit Oah'u back in '89, Mau'i in '01, and Kaua'i in '04. We found a spot that the locals suggested and wound up snorkeling with wild dolphin! What an experience that was!!! I could pitch a tent on the beach and be happy.
~~~I am SO glad you stumbled onto my blog because I so enjoy yours!!!
~~~Blessings~~~
