Night of Summer Heat

When the blossoms flew
All the pods gathered
To strike a pose
Perched in trees
Soon to lose their clothes

An I sat unaware
Lapping strawberry ice cream
While a distant snow fell

Work stole the weekend
&
Bills hemmed us in
But it's only a half moon
With the trees
Still holding their leaves

So I want to feel the cold
Before another night of Summer heat
Melts the caps~

I love the header, the poem, and the strange pictures. Your title sounds like the name of an old Elizabeth Taylor movie (remember "The Long Hot Summer"), or perhaps a play by Tennessee Williams (remember "Summer & smoke")? The red flowers on your header, they look like the paper poppies that are given out in front of stores once a year.

I always enjoy a visit to your warm and sunny blog. Your photos are so different -- no Java finch or snail shells the size of baseballs here. And your photos are familiar--orange tabby, crusty lichened bark. I like the phrasing in your poem. It's amazing what happens around us while we are engrossed in enjoying our ice cream.

Your cat must be a philosopher, it seemed to be thinking too much.

A cat should not think as much as us.

It may go gaga.

But how will it look by then?
