Winter in the Tropics

It's getting so cold here, I actually had to put socks on this morning! ha

For Skywatch Friday-

Beautiful Poinsettia..(native to Mexico), it's found in the tropics (like in my yard).. moderate elevations -
Your darn right that's Holly! This shot- with a touch of focal as well.. captured below, growing up in higher elevation-

This one is of our neighbor Gorden's fancy Coconut trees all lit up...

Anyone guess what I'm doing?

Well it just so happens we had a shortage of trees this year due to slugs! So, many were shipped back ..if you didn't pick one up early like me, you'd be out of luck. Anyway, I decided to get a little creative?

Cheers to you & all our skies-

I love the way the poinsettia looks against the beautiful sky. That's funny about you digging up your tree. Creative way to deal with the shortage.

I don't think I've ever seen a palm tree lit up like a Christmas tree...nice.Had to chuckle when you say its cold enough for socks...as it's -20 C here right now, and socks are definitely in order along with hat, coat, gloves, boots...all the joys of winter! Cheers

How fun to see a palm tree decorated for Christmas. I'm sure your creative tree will be beautiful!

Love your header. The colourful light bulbs make the coconut tree look very attractive. So you're planting coconut in lieu to trees? Good idea! Gives you fruit, cream and many more.

I love all your sky shots, it is different to see a coconut tree lit up for Christmas instead of the usuall pine trees we use. You are lucky to have the poinseetia growing in your yard they look beautiful.

A Christmas coconut - I love it!

Funny how I never think of poinsettia as something growing naturally in the ground, even here in Israel it's always in a pot.

I love your poinsettia photos, they are lovely and the coconut tree with christmas lights is sooo fun! I think it's great that you are able to be creative and find a christmas tree to dig up in your own yard. I'd like to see it when it is all decorated...will you be posting a pic?

Cold enough for socks? I'm sitting here in thick fluffy socks with a heater pointed at my feet. hahaha I think I would love living in the warm tropics! :)

'Winter in the tropics'! That's my kind of winter! :-) Not that I can complain comparing to what's going on in the rest of Europe... we are still having some sunshine and temperatures above 0ºC!... but it's winter anyway! Bahhhh... I hate it! Lol!
The first Poinsettia shot is gorgeous!
