Abel's Sacrifice?

I can remember my Grandma
Once back in time
Gazing out our window
When I was eight or nine
Got too thinking perhaps
If that moment rewound
Maybe her thoughts
Might even be found

And if I asked her to spare me
A future of pain
Would she pause to say
He'd already been slain?
Could she tell of His suffering
That all else is vain?

If God dwells
With the lowly
And His satisfactions
With the contrite of heart
You don't have to bet
There's got to be
A counterfeit?

Well I'm sure someone back there
Had solemnly proclaimed
The war of the ages
Over the mystery revealed
Abel's sacrifice
Or the spirit of Cain

So if you have plenty
Would you be broken?
Or if you have li'l
Will you cast you burden?

So come all ye saints-
An fall at His feet
Will it be Abel's sacrifice
Or the spirit of Cain?
All else is vain...

Inspiration-
Whenever our right becomes the guiding factor of our lives, it dulls our spiritual insight. The greatest enemy of the life of faith in God is not sin, but good choices which are not quite good enough. The good is always the enemy of the best".
Oswald Chambers-My Utmost For His Highest
Is 64:6 "..and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."

"Behold I lay in Zion a stone... and I will make justice the measuring line, and righteousness the level" (Isa 28:16-17).

Lk 12: 1-2 “..Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.

Heb 12: 12- "Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble, and make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed"

God want us to be righteous as He is righteous. What He doesn't want us to be is being SELF-RIGHTEOUS like the Pharisee and the Sadducee. In their kind of Righteousness (in their own eyes), they became fault finders. And of this modern era, there are still remnants of them in us.

They are found in every fibre of the society, government, politics, religion, education ...all types of institutions.

I love those Bible verses above.

Wonderful post! His grace is sufficient, His strength is made perfect in our weaknesses..

Oh goody..I get to ramble. (I hope no one takes anything personal here ..I'd like to amplify this if I can..but first of all..most importantly..thanks for the genuine feedback.
When I think of the body I think of a couple things. One is what God's intentions and purposes are in regard to the manifestation of this life. I think Jesus said some of the most astounding things critical of the religious organizations of His day and Luke is simply a warning. When I say Counterfeit..I was thinking of the upheaval and collision of the spiritual world and forces upon rebirth then how your eyes fall on Calvary and simply why He had to come...but we know that right? Well Jesus then told about the parables to help us out a little..so it's out of the deepest respect..cause I think He nudges us to please then -use Himself as the plumb-line (the cornerstone) in which to build the house where we all fit snugly together. We're suppose to do that every day rather than set about building only to then pick it up later.
Now if one were just being critical of Jesus' teachings..and all the various baloney Christians are guilty of..(like a mocker) and simply never pointed to (the plumb) as far as what was the correct way..then this wouldn't be edifying. So, I see the body as a bit out of alignment. Having said that- here is how I look at tweaking it:
Recognize the counterfeit exists..(no shame and guilt about being "negative" here) stands against- (scripture describes these as principalities & powers). Everything He's demonstrated is played out in a contrast
Proud- lowly -arrogant- humble and so forth.
The way that factors in is, if you have much in the natural..gifts, talents abilities (can you accept that he means brokenness).."Blessed are the poor in Spirit- for there's is the Kingdom" Mt. 5:3
Having little..great limitation..not having much to offer really in the eyes of the world (would you then cast your burden)..Both of these in the natural realm get the death blow- He doesn't need any of this for His life comes out of death..1 Co 30-"It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God- that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.." Could it be an attitude of the heart in regard to Abel's sacrifice? So like the plumb-line..we use that ..measuring everyday. He warned that if our righteousness didn't surpass that of the Pharisees..we wouldn't get in? Well what was that he was talking about? He put it this way in Mt. 21:31-"The prostitutes and the tax collectors are entering in ahead of you.."- Lastly, Ph. 2-7 "Do nothing from selfishness.. but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves.. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant.." then the exaltation? Thanks-

I love your rambling. I can agree to that. It is just that when religion goes to the extreme, the real context of Jesus teachings through His ministry on earth are often taken out of context. Thanks for the amplication. Like what He (Jesus) said that men choose to ignore His (God) commandments so they could follow Men's commandment. Anyhow, you do head to a very significant metaphorical title of Abel's Sacrifice or the Spirit of Cain. Very sad story right in the beginning of the creation.

Wow..I honestly appreciate this- as poetry can be mysterious..so we can also remain shaded. I often don't get the chance for much dialog either. Good to stir things up huh?
Very much so as you've said- His ministry has been taken out of context..maybe brought down more to the earthly sphere. Again..my thanks for taking the time to read and respond sharing your thoughts Bonnie-

Let's be perfectly clear- the war on free speech is spiritual!
