Fortune said, it should be you..
These aren't roses..but Cherry blossoms from the annual festival I attended with my son and girlfriend in Waimea week before last.
I had a brother who died with his best friend in a car accident on this day- when I was only a freshman in high school..they were in their early twenty's.
My brother had sent a dozen red roses to the woman he'd been engaged to at the time. I was going to be the maid of honor..
Sometimes we'll never know the reasons?
I read of Cupid -the Roman god of love and the son of Venus..whose arrows strike the heart- making the victim fall in love. He is also portrayed as a young man with his beloved Psyche, with Venus or with a small group of winged infants (the Amoretti or Amorini).
Greek equivalent is Eros for desire
Then of course St. Valentine- who penned his words from a jail back in 270 A.D., There were plenty of articles like- here..
But I'm going to leave you with an Agape kind of love- meaning goodwill
... charity, love. From agapao; love, ie Affection or benevolence; a love-feast see GREEK agapao- in conformity to Jesus last super- 1 Co 11:24-26
Jn. 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends"
The rose is red, the violet's blue
The honey's sweet, and so are you
Thou are my love and I am thine
I drew thee to my Valentine
The lot was cast and then I drew
The lot was cast and then I drew
And Fortune said it shou'd be you.
Happy Valentine's Day~

Cherry blossoms for Valentine's Day. That would be wonderful. In fact anything plantlike and alive would be a nice change from snow up to the knees.
Cupid, draw back your bow and let your arrow go
Straight to my lover's heart for me.
Happy Valentine's Day to you on the island.
Oh, Gina, I'm so sorry! I had no idea, of course this is a very sad day for you. Your brother was killed on Valentine's Day? No, we never do know, sometimes I wonder if young people who go quickly because they would have had great suffering if they lived longer, and are being spared that. Do you have any other siblings? Now, how on earth did you get the effect for that header?
Beautiful Regina. And poignant too. So sorry for the loss of your brother on this anniversary day. God bless and hug you xx

I'm very sorry for your loss...
I lost one of my childhood friends when we were both only 13 years old. Some people die too young. And the worst thing is that, no matter how many years have passed by, we'll always wonder what they could've achieved, how much joy they could've brought to other people's lives, if they had lived longer.
i had no idea cherry you had cherry blossoms out there in the middle of the pacific. these are beautiful, so is your header shot. agape love is the best and the one i like most. very sad that you lost your brother at a young age. thanks for sharing
