Sevens, Tuesday Afternoon Musings

(Taken in 1917)
My dad's uncle pictured with his seven son's- one died shortly after birth, so there would of been eight. Still, there were six girls! Now, my dad had seven sisters and was the oldest of ten. I am the youngest of seven and my husband now is the oldest of seven.
:
All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven stages

:
What about your family..any interesting order besides seven?

There are so many references to seven, especially in the Bible..(over 700 times as a matter of fact) promises, angels-(appearances),  trees, sons, candelsticks, and generations.. which I've always felt were intriguing.

In the creative works of God, seven completes the colors of the spectrum and rainbow, and satisfies in music the notes of the scale. In each of these the eighth is only a repetition of the first. (a great number of spiritual perfection)
Any thoughts?
The Hebrew, seven is (shevah). It is from the root (savah), to be full or satisfied, have enough of. Hence the meaning of the word "seven" is dominated by this root, for on the seventh day God rested from the work of Creation.
The word ‘Sabbath’, however, does not mean ‘seventh’; it means ‘rest’. Seven sees a completeness; eight means that God begins again upon something that has been completed. His new beginning is out from something finished—God proceeds from completion. That is Christianity: it rests upon something finished, and that something finished is God’s rest, God’s satisfaction. He begins everything from that point.

Wow! That's a lot of sevens in your family...so significant. Thanks for the interesting post on sevens. For some reason, I've always felt 7 is my number. I don't know why. Perhaps it is a spiritual thing but it is unconscious on my part how I came to like the number 7. xx

A handsome group of men in that first picture. I wonder if it was as much of a chore to get them all in one place, all dressed up and in some kind of pleasant mood--as it is for most family group photos. ;)

Interesting set of sevens and thanks for the info on the Hebrew meanings of those numbers. Very enlightening.

Hi Regina, my goodness what a family of families!
Nothing so extraordinary here. We have seven children, two boys, five girls. In Oz, we're a bit out of the ordinary, big families are rare.
Enjoyed looking at all your photos...exceptional views of your land and life.
God bless,
Eaton
