Immortal Plastination

"..in order to make a specimen permanent, decomposition must be halted"

Immortal Plastination..a new band perhaps? No, it's the intention of Zsa Zsa Gabor's current husband - Prince Frederic von Anhalt!
Her health's been failing and she's facing her final days at 93yrs..so her hubby is calling on
German anatomist Gunther von Hagens to immortalize the ailing actress' body after she dies! The German businessman says, "My wife has always dreamed that her beauty would be immortal. His dream is to show her plastinated body "in the context of a scene" in one of her films."

Maybe it's about money?  At that age..though he's a bit younger,  you'd think those two would have something better on their minds?

Decomposition is a natural process triggered initially by cell enzymes released after death and later completed when the body is colonized by putrefaction bacteria and other microorganisms. By removing water and fats from the tissue and replacing these with polymers, the Plastination process deprives bacteria of what they need to survive. Bodily fluids cannot, however, be replaced directly with polymers, because the two are chemically incompatible. Gunther von Hagens found a way around this problem (more here)

The crucifixion is certainly all about immortality, but in Lk. 17:33, it says "Whoever tries to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it " (Mk 8:35 is -lose it for my sake and the gospel)..interesting, just before that Christ made a comparison to Lots wife who looked back ..sort of immortalizing her as well? Ge 19:26. Salt's know for that, but I'm sure the chemical make up of sulfur adds a new dimension? What do you think?
Salt is also significant because the sacrifice He made is equated with salt- Mt. 5:13-14 ~making the sacrifice good, and the virtue or righteousness of Christ, which in turn makes us good?

I pulled this charming photo out of my draft.. I had to put my last post in there too because I just deleted photo bucket (which made my camping photos disappear). I locked it for privacy but noticed anyone could still scroll through it? Maybe I missed something? Anyway..no header yet either (sniff)

Interesting photo. Interesting post. I have heard about some people leaving their bodies to be platicized and used for science through education of the body parts. Not my cup of tea but I guess some people prefer that to being buried or cremated. I wonder if Zsa Zsa herself wanted this or if this is just something her husband thought of on his own?

I Don't know why. I have written in the last paragraph of my latest blog post:

Time has a wonderful way of showing us whatever will be, will be. To be or not to be a celebrity, there will be an answer, let it be.

You've got to be kidding!! I knew she was in the hospital and was living out her last days, but thus is just TOO much!! How totally Zsa Zsa, Dahlink!! I love your bible comparisons, yes, salt was extremly precious and used to preserve things!

love the curly thingy in the header and the scripture tells it all. we can't take any thing with us, not beauty of any thing else and we also can't leave it behind. photos maybe, but no imortality until we are home with Jesus.

The immortal beauty that we leave on Earth is only in our compassionate acts. Who could look at a plasticized body and not think, creepy?

I suppose those who have no hope for a life after this one feel they have to hang on to whatever exists now. That is sad in so many ways. Letting go of those you love is difficult no matter what you believe. But it must be devastating without spiritual faith.

So sorry about the camping photos! The lizard-gecko- bejeweled by dew in your new header is AMAZING.
