Boosting Those Endorphins

I don't smoke..can't drink really-(always leave a tiny window open), due to my compromised immune system, though I may have a glass of wine on special occasions. Having said that, I saw a video clip of a surfer who got his arm bitten off by a shark last night..well I had been thinking about my love of chocolate (really) and also happen to be reflecting on the young man from "I-ran" who is sadly awaiting the amputation of his hand plus additional sentencing for uh, stealing chocolate!!  It would be different if you knew that shark might be hanging around..so I figure it must be worse to wait for a most certain fate?

On Chocolate~ Chocolate is a psychoactive food. It is made from the seeds of the tropical cacao tree, Theobroma cacao. The Greek term theobroma means literally "food of the gods". Chocolate has also been called the food of the devil (snicker snicker); but the theological basis of this claim is obscure. But it seems to affect the brain by causing the release of certain endorphins.
This is a picture of my sister's cacao tree..she does the whole process- from the raw fruit, through fermentation, drying, etc. to chocolate or cacoa.

OK, I was reading a passage from the Gospel of Mk.3:1-15 (when Jesus healed a man with a withered hand). Honestly, I was trying to imagine what was going through that man's head..he must of realized as Jesus did- those religious leaders (like our modern day FDA- lurking around (in an olive grove no doubt) - plotting how they were going to snare Him on some trumped up charges!

Like it or not, most of the stuff we ingest are made up of some kind of chemicals.
Now I just found out women's bras contain formaldehyde!! Known as the burning bra for it's chemical finish (giving it that fresh stiff look). Yikes!! What if it were only in push-ups? What if they ((boosted)) your endorphins too?

Look, if they can invent Latisse -a drug the FDA has now approved to grow eyelashes according to Allergan, the company that makes Latisse  (don't you love those names)? I'm getting off track...

Well, you can take your nitrates in bright red wieners or sulfides in lovely plum wine.. either way, we should be good with it..yet watch out, someone else might get their nose out of joint! So, I just wind-up looking for how God uses it all-good and the bad?
This is my final word.. Ga. 5 may list beautiful things to think about..yet it still speaks volumes on the freedom of how to live in Christ so we don't have to then worry about the law~ as He is the fulfillment of it.
Now I want you to throw your 2 cents in..

My goodness! You sure have raised a lot of interesting and thought provoking things in one, short post. Amazing ;-) Not sure how to comment in a short form except to say 'well done'.

It is fantastic that your sister can do all that with a cocao tree. I think it so great because since I learned about the slaves, many of them children, used to harvest cocao pods, I find it hard to buy chocolate.

Gal. 5 is my all time favourite chapter in the Bible. I learned a song as a child about "standing fast in the liberty, only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh but by LOVE, SERVE one another." Awesome song and awesome instructions to us too about love, service and fruits ;-)

Alcohol, smoke, chocolate, bra...

I drink little, I never smoke, I love chocolate, I never use bras.

I need to feel "it" when I am going to eat chocolate.

Wow!! I just keep thinking, your sister grows chocolate???? Do you ever reap the benefits from this happy relationship? They have done studies that determined that eating chocolate has the same effect on our brain chemistry as being in love! Also, did you know that cheese is one of the most addictive foods? It contains natural opiates. Oh, gosh, when you said I-Ran, all I thought of was that song "I ran so far away" by Flock Of Seagulls!! Remember their hair? So I thought this ageing rock star had stolen chocolate! But your link to the story straightened me out fast! They are going by the old law, aren't they "If anything offends you, cut it off or pluck it out" that sort of thing! Too bad that people are offered this wonderful gift, but choose not to beliece and suffer these harsh rules instead, what a shame!

Punishing the love of chocolate is JUST WRONG! Of course stealing IS wrong but taking a hand for such a choice is certainly extreme.

Hawaii is most certainly paradise if you can grow your own chocolate. (I understand other pleasure-producing plants also grow in those jungles.)

Free agency is the most precious gift we have next to a place to house our spirits.

No I must go find my stash of the food of the Gods (snicker, snicker).
