Figs and Leaves- Pt. 1

(Musings below photos)
These (along with my header), were taken in February and March of 2009..before the current drought.
We'd taken the Saddle Rd. to Kona- West.. I'm on Hilo- the East side
(map below).. you'll notice the
path through the middle of the island~
the narrow and winding Saddle Road, so named because it runs between the two major volcanic mountains, Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea (white mountain being covered in snow during winter)
This year it didn't snow..this Summer hasn't been as hot either.
(might as well enlarge these)
If you'll notice below, there wasn't much contrast with the ocean
(what your looking at beyond the sheep) as
Kona tends to get most of the sulfur dioxide.

Anyway, I was thinking of the fig tree and why Jesus cursed it?
Well I know one thing, God's intention..(what He made provision for),was so that through
Christ- we could bear fruit in any season..

Jer. 17: 7-8 "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD
And whose trust is the LORD.
“For he will be like a tree planted by the water,
That extends its roots by a stream
And will not fear when the heat comes;
But its leaves will be green,
And it will not be anxious in a year of drought
Nor cease to yield fruit.

I would frame your header photo and hang it on my wall!!! Such beauty. So sorry the winds have not brought the rain as normal.

When I visited The Big Island we spent a night in Hilo. It was a very pleasant place with quite a history. We stopped by the orchid gardens and the black sand beaches. We flew over the cattle ranches and drove the full circuit of the island. I went snorkeling in Kealakekua Bay and saw a humpback breach from the water several times. You DO live in Paradise.. beauty planted by the water.

All your other photos are also excellent.

Diamonds in the leaves today, and faceted ones at that!! and your header looks like a beautiful, wild prairie.

Leenie spoke about your header very well.

I used to travel round Penang Island, and it took me three to four hours with a few stops in between.

I can imagine how delightful your trip should be.
