"Island's colorful Gecko"
(best when enlarged..you know that don't you)!
The geckos of Hawaii have earned a great reputation rooted in the earliest history and the first migrations to the islands. While there are over 900 species of geckos worldwide, only eight species have settled on the islands, four of these in recent years.
All geckos have immovable eyelids. The eyes with unusual vertical pupils are covered by a transparentmembrane which the gecko cleans with its long, sticky tongue. They are the only lizards who are able to make sounds, other than hissing, and their name is a direct imitation of their nightly chatter.

Hey..maybe Gene Simmon's saw one of these while he was trippin on something?

Hah! On the Gene Simmon's joke. hehe! I had no idea Geckos had bumpy skin and not scaly. Another reason I'm enjoying Macro Mondays!
Gorgeous photos...bright, sharp and colorful. Great detail, too!

beautiful shots the vegatation is always so beautiful.
Intriguing creatures aren't they? I like the 1st shot the most purely because no vegetation is in the way lol would have loved for you to have got closer :)
on closeup, I see the head is tiny bit blurred (sorry, I'm picky!) which I suspect is due to focussing on the gecko's body instead of the head. Although it could also be because the head moved when sticking it's tongue out. Just some input, I would try make the head and eyes the sharpest points in the shot :) it might sound trivial, and is sometimes impossible, but sharp eyes make photos pop!
I enjoy the feedback..truthfully, (I'm probably pickier than U! When I ran back out for another Gene Simmon's, he just wouldn't stick his tongue out again! So..the top one is for the eyes & the bottom for the tongue, any closer I figured- it be pornography.. Heh heh
FANTASTIC!!! I miss Hawaii...:-)
he's almost perfectly camoflaged (spelling(?))
what a cheeky little guy, poking his tounge out :)
Wonderful camouflage, great shots!
Just looks like another insurance salesman to me.
Or a lawyer perhaps?
Wow, you've captured this little lizard beautifully. Always liked the little guys. I don't get to see them too often but enjoy their company when I do.
Awesome.
Great post my friend.
and your header is cute:).
I have never seen a gecko that green with red spots. You were lucky to see one,
Thanks for visiting.
Ann :)
Beautiful gecko pictures! I didn't know that geckos couldn't blink and cleaned their eyes by licking them.
