Beauty Gazing In The Mirror

And of needs unsatisfied...

At night the watchmen of the city say,
"Beauty shall rise with the dawn from the east."
And at noontide the toilers and the wayfarers say,

"We have seen her leaning over the earth
from the windows of the sunset."

beauty is not a need but an ecstasy.
It is not a mouth thirsting nor an empty hand stretched forth,
But rather a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted.

It is not the image you would see nor the song you would hear,
But rather an image you see though you close your eyes and a song you hear though you shut your ears.
It is not the sap within the furrowed bark, nor a wing attached to a claw,
But rather a garden for ever in bloom and a flock of angels for ever in flight.

People of Orphalese,
beauty is life when life unveils her holy face

But you are life and you are the veil
Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror
But you are eternity and you are the mirror~
Kahlil Gibran

Ecc.3:11
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done

He Makes His Ways Known

Above pods..and flower below are Melastoma Sanguineum-
which blooms continuously..turning deep purple with higher elevation.
My blogging friend (Sandra has similar climate and foliage over in Florida) You might like to pay her a visit.
These two seem to be natural companions ..what we refer to as the Staghorn fern.
It becomes woody and the tip is almost like a razor..a bit  blurry here- but together with the Ohia trees they make up our forest. In fact if people would just doze only a house pad, they do a nice job of keeping out the weeds-

I mentioned in the last post I was reading through the book of Daniel
In Chapt. 10, he has a vision- I've included a couple verses following a brief account~

"While standing on the bank of the great river, the Tigris, I looked up and there before me was a man dressed in linen, with a belt of the finest gold around his waist. His body was like chrysolite, his face like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and his voice like the sound of a multitude.
Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response"

It might not always be so dramatic..but amazing how God hears us and responds just the same~

 Pr. 4 6 & 7
"Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you;
love her, and she will watch over you
Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom
Though it cost all you have, get understanding"

(On rejecting wisdom)
Pr. 1: 23
If you had responded to my rebuke,
I would have poured out my heart to you
and made my thoughts known to you..

Fingers, A Misshapen Bean & The Rat

Fingers
"Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall" (Da. 5)

King Belshazzar to Daniel~
"If you can read this writing and tell me what it means, you will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around your neck, and you will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.”

The Bean~
Well I stumbled into the kitchen this morning and while my cereal was cooking, I peeked inside the fridge at my cheesecake (generally this type of desert needs to set overnight) ..hmm? So, I hurried up and threw some more coffee beans in for a second cup, when I kept hearing a clink..(one obstinate bean that defied the sharp blades of my grinder)? Upon further inspection, I noticed it was rather misshapen..so I tossed it..when I began humming the tune byUB40 (There's A Rat in Me Kitchen).Well, lacking any self control, I proceeded to eat each and every soft delicate morsel
before either cereal or coffee were finished (not a regular habit I can assure you)
Well, I tell you..this is no happy story -but it's short (sort a) , just an excerpt with my musings. More importantly, I've included a poem I seriously doubt would of materialized if the likes of Leno had his way when I was a child!

The Rat & The Writing
Well, I glanced over at an article which came via my e-mail and read the following
"A band of six Democrats in the California state Senate voted today to advance a bill..."
Well I've heard of a "Band of angels~ coming after me, coming for to carry me home", and A Band of Brothers" but this?  In short-
"This costly (of course) state mandate targets children for sexual brainwashing, behind the backs of parents, teaching boys and girls to admire (isn't that classic) those who engage in homosexual, bisexual or transsexual behavior." (your probably not too surprised)
A proposal by California State Lawmaker Mark Leno (who's partner died of AIDS and smile looks even cheesier than my cake!

My proposal (notice I'd been reading through the book of Daniel) is just yank your kids out of Government schools? The writing's on the wall!
Under the California Sun

I’d longed once,
For a days Promise
When my feet rose to greet-
Sidewalks warming
Neighbor kids
&
The walls we’d climbed
For pomegranates ripe
Under the California sun

No jewels decked
My hands or neck
Just the gold in my hair
With the earth it collected

Crimson juice
And scattered peels
Left on curbs
We sat along

My heart, it skipped a beat...
Was but youth, in its season

Spring Changes

(Try not to snicker at my super moon)
One avocado tree with blossoms
Another with buds..
Was also thinking about choices..I realized many of them being made by creatures this week..
I looked out of my window and noticed these little sparrows (one on the side)
making off with a few threads for a nest..
must of figured I wasn't using this little rug!
"Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all"
Emily Dickinson
I see this quite often (chameleon below my wipers) ?
Now I caught my love bird living on the edge..our cat is about 13yrs now and bird is ten- old enough to know better! Lucky he has respect..after a brief pause, you can see he just ignored him and kept eating!

Below (when babysitting son's pup)
Hope you don't mind..but they really are innocent (grin)
Wha..?
A flea perhaps?

"Men can only be happy when they do not assume
that the object of life is happiness"

The House Of Tomorrow

(My son, Mauna Rd. Big Island early 90's)

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you
You may give them your love but not your thoughts
For they have their own thoughts
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams~

You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth..

A Time For Everything

I remember when I was a young girl, sitting at the dinner table listening to an older couple visiting at the time (both teachers who had recently escaped from Lebanon). This was back in the early 70's..and happen to attend the same church as my parents. I recall the wife describing a life and death situation where she hid what money and jewelry she had under a wig and barely escaped with her life.
(Cedars of Lebanon)
The righteous flourish like the palm tree and
grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Ps. 92:12

Lebanon was mentioned more than seventy times in the Old Testament (Khalaf 1985: 23; Kinet 1997: 876) and "more than ten times in extra-canonical literature" (Gangloff 1997: 4). Lebanon was the single most flattered, venerated and desired region in the eyes of the authors of the Old Testament (cf. Gangloff 1997: 4).

I've listened to an eight part series by Brigitte Gabriel, when I began to connect the dots. She's a genuinely beautiful and powerful speaker who lived in a bomb shelter with her parents for seven years as a child.

Tsunami Hero's & Best Friends

Joy and appreciation mixed with sorrow~

This is so touching..I couldn't get this video in English, but keep watching and you'll see how devoted this dog is to his injured friend. They have both been rescued thankfully (see more here)

I'm sure we'll never hear about all the hero's, but they're already being dubbed the Fukushima Fifty:
The men who are trading shifts to try to prevent the full meltdown of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear facility.
On their shoulders rests the safety -- and perhaps the lives -- of thousands of Japanese citizens. When the facility's 800 employees were evacuated last week following the earthquake and tsunami, these were the men who stayed behind to try to cool down the reactors..

Though it's been painful only to watch the circumstances imploding here in Japan..but we can be thankful for the moments when the clouds part-

Even in laughter the heart may ache,
and joy may end in grief
Pr. 14: 13

This is my son's puppy and the video is a rather intimate moment while baby-sitting last week..it's worth it just to wait and hear her antagonize our dog Moo~

Wooden Doors

(Black King Wood Bee)

Spring is sooner recognized by plants than by men.
~Chinese Proverb

Never cut a tree down in the wintertime.
Never make a negative decision in the low time.
Never make your most important decisions when you are in your worst moods.
Wait,  be patient, the storm will pass..
The spring will come”
 Robert H. Schuller

I was really thinking more about passages here than Spring..
even nature has doors~
Pluck not  (Be selective) of the wayside flower;
It is the traveler's dower-
William Allingham

Daniel 2:21
He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding;
Let's be perfectly clear- the war on free speech is spiritual!
