Should Of Had The Window Seat!

This is an aerial view of a post I did awhile back of the Wailoa River in Hilo (1) & (2 here)
(Singing Bridge below)

An early morning surprise -(first time either of us had flown in a helicopter) a Christmas present from our son)..
With only a cup of coffee down, this is little of what we saw below -

These are mac nut (macadameian) fields My Grandparent's used to have a tree when they retired in Sierra Madre Ca.  I can remember cracking them with a hammer in our back yard- very tasty! Of course there are a variety of ways to use them from cookies to mac nut crusted fish.
(I haven't had dinner yet)

Crater-reminds me of fingers venting..
I've never seen a tattoo quite like our Pilot had, have you?

The Pacific Ocean- around 8:30 this morning

Below..I've included a bunch of relieved trees- chatting below!
Quite a soft contrast from the flow..
This is why-
The house you see is the last remaining when Kalapana (Royal Garden's subdivision) was
taken by the flow in the beginning of 1990's-
As I understand (Jack Thompson)- owner, has turned his home into a B & B..I guess you'd have quite a hike? Still, the up side would be working up a good appetite! Hmm..
Psalm 19

For the director of music. A psalm of David.
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard.
Might not get another post up in time so hey-

Happy New Year to all!!

The Sound of a Tweet

(This gives you an idea of how one of them sounds..
trust me, it's actually a lot better to hear a chorus than say two)? You certainly don't have to mute my tunes!

Late at night
Could hear an echo
Like the sound of a bat
Just Coqui (tree frogs) a calling
Clinging to the trees
In the rain
Like sap

I thought
Of Reid tweeting Gaga
Useless figures
Media showers
It's when my pie
Began to sour

Frogs
They like to come out
During the night
But
We were still mesmerized
As it grew dark

Well you know
You can't hear
A burglar
While they're singing in the rain-
Useless figures
The media showers..

Whistling In The Shower

School
Can generate original thought
Church
Often comes with a lot of props
God
We say He has a plan
Whistling in the shower
You (usually) have no fans (no not the ceiling)
Driving
In your car
Still not there
If your idea is simply afar

The stage isn't always
How you plan to take it
But it's in the now-
Where you'll make it

In Him
We live
&
Move
&
Have our being
Acts 17:28~
The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else.

Trash & Half Licked Peanut Butter!

When I woke up,
I found two things that were just uncalled for..
pictured in the order of significance-

Look closely..you know what this is?

Trash..that's right- nestled in those lovely ferns! I mean, just think..I got up early just to take my dog on a morning walk and maybe catch the sun coming up (that's almost a stretch as I don't always make it) ... but you can see I brought my camera- only to realize someone else thought my road would be a convenient spot to chuck their garbage!
Honestly, the last time this happened..(uh no..actually- the last two were a box spring followed by a mattress (in the same order-not on the same day) can you believe it? Rude!
Now get this..once someone left a smaller garbage bag like this further up the road and I checked inside cause I figured if they were this lame then they must also be sloppy enough to have left receipts inside too? Well I was right! I found enough bills that = a number, which I called. A woman on the other end must of sensed where I was going with this and hung up on me..ha?
The truth is, this happened some time ago..it's haunted me because I never looked inside that bag!

The other is a spoon (again)-

With 3/4 of a licked portion of peanut butter..see the pretty bitty particles of oil? Slap!
Gee..why not turn it over & lick the whole darn thing?!!

Holding On

Was a dream..

I'd brought my
Mother and Father
Roses..
A spray
Of faded pink an cream
Just couldn't seem
To keep the vase straight
But I
Keep holding on
My eyes..
Want to give up

Faded pink an cream
Slid back
Toward the end of the table

Watching days go by
Habits
&
Learning curves
I didn't get around
Somewhere I slipped

Pink
&
Cream
Are more
Than good intentions
If I could just
Keep the vase straight ~

A Feather In Your Hat?

Sun
Kissed
 Droplet
Grace
Imbued
Living animation-
Its
 Popped corn
On your canvas
Lady Marmalade
With her fan?
Not-
Elly May
My tom boy cat!
Swords drawn
Maybe Stag horn peering..
Or
Simply feathers
In a China man's Hat?

Crystal balls-
Some read them..
Others see through them~

Night of Summer Heat

When the blossoms flew
All the pods gathered
To strike a pose
Perched in trees
Soon to lose their clothes

An I sat unaware
Lapping strawberry ice cream
While a distant snow fell

Work stole the weekend
&
Bills hemmed us in
But it's only a half moon
With the trees
Still holding their leaves

So I want to feel the cold
Before another night of Summer heat
Melts the caps~

Candy Cane

If your not into baking- I do hope you'll enjoy the photos-
An even better idea if you have time-

The close up above of a Tea Plant reminds me of the Christmas candy my mom would buy-
shaped like ribbons..do you remember those?

Here is a recipe for those who enjoy something home made as well as festive.
Trust me, it's delicious and easy!
**
Candy Cane Bread:
This comes out of an old cook book I've worn out-
(Breads)- by Sharon Tyler Herbst
Most of the photos had to wait in my draft so I could really make this first..(last night in fact).
*
Basic sweet yeast dough
Tlb yeast
1 tsp sugar
1/4 cup water
1/3 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/3 cup butter melted
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp salt
3 & 1/4- 3 & 3/4 cup flour
Let your yeast and water stand while you mix sugar, eggs, butter (real), sour cream, vanilla & salt.
Add 1 & 1/2 to 2 cups flour then mix on med. speed of electric mixer for 2 min.
Knead for about 4-6 min and set it to rise for about 1 & 1/2 hours
*
Candy canes is all I used as I didn't fuss with anything else?
You can turn it into a pretty wreath or C Cane shape~
Cut the dough, crush them and sprinkle in-be-tween ropes, then braid.
Let it rise for another hour or less then bake at 350 for 25 min.

This could of turned out more shapely if I didn't double it and made one big cane instead of two loaves..but you get the idea~
Let's be perfectly clear- the war on free speech is spiritual!
