For A Blue Moon

Happy New Year..my very best to all of you as we enter into another decade together! I'm heading out to the other side of the Island (Kona) soon, but will check back (lap top). This is really a blue moon tonight so here is a poem (Kealani was the inspiration) for the occasion- Aloha-

It was just a mere slice of time
But a moment I’ll carry with me
Her by the piano
Barely over seven
Exchanging thoughts

Gently I lifted
A few strands
Of long bronze hair
What had fallen
In between her pink dress
The only thing
That appeared warm
While the humidity
Hung in the entry-way
Was like a picture,
I felt I’d altered

Holding her close
She in turn
Leaned into me

While time ever silently
Moves forward
Will we, allotted in moments brief
Pick up memories fond embrace

And it’s a legacy
We carve out
Most often crude
Though well intentioned
Still we with faces turned
Absorb the rays
In the glow
Of the eternal Son
And so reflect
As the moon
To our fellow
Children of the earth

Carousel

(Andy Warhol post below)

There were times spent
When you waited
Just to jump aboard
That merry-go-round-
Of all that you labored
To re-create
In the course of a day

In and out of department stores
Through all the traffic
You can smell it
Memories wafting up
Strangers, profiles-
You brush past
Lobster's looking through the glass

It’s that familiar song
You’ve heard it in the market
Like a symphony
When it could get you
Past this wall
Events,
You'd could once recount
With ease..are nearly a shadow

Your further up stream
Still you step aboard
Cool wind blows
Against your cheeks
Its a lighter load now
An memories,
Like a carousel
Spin
Of all the times you labored
To re-create
In the course of a day
But it's OK...

Maybe it was timing but I read the following excerpt from a devotional which kind of spoke to me after I wrote that poem- It may to you as well?
"Faith looks back and says,
"Christ died for me."
Above and cries,
"He lives for me";
Forward and whispers
"He comes for me"
We are not traveling by schedule but by faith"

Christmas With Great Grandma

Thanks to Aileni..For Monochrome Weekly

My niece's little girl Kealani..who I posted of last week- (a little older now).. -Her Great Grandma Francis here is in her early 90's -

(Leonard Cohen, The Bells)

The birds they sang at break of day
Start again, I heard them say
Nor dwell on what has passed away
Or what is yet to be.

The wars they will be fought again
The holy dove be caught again
Bought and sold and bought again
Until we set them free.

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
The light behind to see.

Add up the parts, not yours the sum
Strike up the march, there is no drum
Every heart to love must come
Like a refugee

Winter in the Tropics

It's getting so cold here, I actually had to put socks on this morning! ha

For Skywatch Friday-

Beautiful Poinsettia..(native to Mexico), it's found in the tropics (like in my yard).. moderate elevations -
Your darn right that's Holly! This shot- with a touch of focal as well.. captured below, growing up in higher elevation-

This one is of our neighbor Gorden's fancy Coconut trees all lit up...

Anyone guess what I'm doing?

Well it just so happens we had a shortage of trees this year due to slugs! So, many were shipped back ..if you didn't pick one up early like me, you'd be out of luck. Anyway, I decided to get a little creative?

Cheers to you & all our skies-

On Authority

Inspiration taken from
The Gospel of Mt., Chap. 12-
Liberation sways
Posing a challenge..
A delicate offering..
Health for the body-
Is
Freedom of mind

Yet indignation rose
Like ripe heads of grain
Whose powers He met
Through fields

They'd pic
ked

Provoked by
An authority
Greater than the temple
Desiring Compassion
Not Sacrifice..
Rulers struck back,
Accusations flew

That He could only
Cast out spirits
&
Heal
By the power of Beelzebul

But kingdoms, Cities
&
Homes divided
Fall
He declared..
&
So like the strongman
In order to plunder..
He must be bound-

Mt. 12:26-29

"If I by Beelzebul cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? For this reason they will be your judges. “But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you."

Lord of the Sabbath~

Anyone remember the song by the Eurythmics?
(Sweet dreams are made of this)-
"Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world
And the seven seas--
Everybody's looking for something..
Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you.."?

Well, I'm going to do what I don't always do (give a little explanation for my poem)- As I mentioned below, though inspiration was taken from the Gospel of Mt., my intention wasn't really to focus on demons per say, rather it was the fact that I've encountered several aspects of human nature, which I felt were addressed here. This might have to do with age and the fact that as you get older you seem to reflect more.
Anyway, I'd been mulling over the side of humanity which falls into the category of either enabling, being non confrontational or bullishly confronting. What I mean is, for example- I used to fall somewhere in the middle due to confusion, because (if you look carefully), this speaks of an authority which centers on some kind of divine rulership. The trouble is most often we're simply under control..(some power) (we may not even call it spiritual) but we don't necessarily understand it..otherwise why do people enable and so forth? Understanding the role of headship gave me freedom but it's the only thing I can think of which stops erosion from that former behavior? I'd like to hear what you have to say?

Passing The Baton, Pt. 5- Our Legacy

This is the link to the final part of a series I wrote (Tracing Worldviews) - I don't have a follower thingy, so this is for those who may be interested in the read-
An excerpt-
You could say rebirth is like stepping into another dimension. Only then did I really begin to comprehend the battle between two opposing yet powerful Kingdoms. Before that, I couldn't see beyond all the confusion surrounding me. You could check out either poem-
Shattered Glass or the River?

What I feel is central in this conflict though, is really over the legacy the children of God are to bear..more importantly, our comprehension and response towards it. I think it all boils down to this kernel of truth:

We'll either pass along our spiritual legacy we have in Christ (the new creation) or what we possess naturally? Generally, we do both...

Let's be perfectly clear- the war on free speech is spiritual!
