It was just a mere slice of time
But a moment I’ll carry with me
Her by the piano
Barely over seven
Exchanging thoughts
Gently I lifted
A few strands
Of long bronze hair
What had fallen
In between her pink dress
The only thing
That appeared warm
While the humidity
Hung in the entry-way
Was like a picture,
I felt I’d altered
Holding her close
She in turn
Leaned into me
While time ever silently
Moves forward
Will we, allotted in moments brief
Pick up memories fond embrace
And it’s a legacy
We carve out
Most often crude
Though well intentioned
Still we with faces turned
Absorb the rays
In the glow
Of the eternal Son
And so reflect
As the moon
To our fellow
Children of the earth
