When Kealani Waltzed

Well, I love all the animals
Especially my own,
Still I've never seen whales
Off Wayne's back porch
But I peeked round the corner
From my living room
I saw the angels
Stand back
While Kealani waltzed

Life hasn't stopped
On this merry-go-round
Folks seldom hold on
When the going gets rough
Reaching out for some warmth,
Just a smile that lasts
Only they'll dart
If you spook um,
Then swim off in a pack

It's neither children nor dogs
That get so uptight,
As the conditional lovers
Who fly by at night

For the birds they'll sing
Before you arise,
It's the dogs that wait
And the cats who turn up
Yet children will hold you,
Like there's no tomorrow
Take a walk on a road-
They think has no end

Now, I love all the animals
Especially my own...
Still I've never seen whales
Off Wayne's back porch
But I peeked round the corner
From my living room
I saw the angels
Stand back
While Kealani waltzed-

Convents & Towering Blackboards

I've opened up a monthly writing challenge capturing any event that takes you back to a brief period of time in your past beginning on the first Wednesday of every month (rather than a weekly challenge) here at (A Window Through Wednesday)- If you'd rather capture a special time using poetry- by all means do so- you can always post a link whenever you feel inspired.

Though this particular window happens to focus more on the Spiritual, it isn't my intention to limit it to this by any means. I don't want you to feel pressure and my objective isn't to critique but to learn something from one another's shared experiences.

Convents & Towering Blackboards

Was my spiritual awareness really opened for the first time during a typical morning drive? It would be one of many I'd take with my mom and siblings while passing the convent on my way to what would be a brief time spent at St. John’s elementary school in Southern California. I remember vividly, thinking in my young mind (that of a first and second grader)-what it must be like to know...

Wild Lilikoi (Passion Fruit) & Morning Musings

I'm sitting here
Appearing transparent
Under the tarp
With a hole
Where the rains falling in..

While it's understood
The sun
It shines through
That His blessings
They flow
On the evil & good..

Yet I wonder
At the bee
Hovering
Just below my knee
As he pollinates a weed..
Still I know

Somehow,
Everything works for the good-

(If you enlarge the photo above, you can see the passion growing along an apple tree)

Wild Passion flower growing along a vine in the middle of Mauna Road on the Big Island. Now this type here is different..it's long like a sausage (you can kinda see in the last photo) & orange when it ripens..plus, the skin is softer and the taste is way more bland- Anybody else have these growing in your neck of the woods?

Saddle Road, A Culmination

For Skywatch Friday

Appearing out of the mist, expecting..a familiar rancher perhaps?

I didn't need to move
Any closer
Than where I stood
Neither did the One
Who dipped
In rich brown
&
Gold
The deepest of red,
Where it bled
From His palette
Into the crude earth
I till

It would be the ground
Through birth
Seeds sown in sorrow
Not mirth

For everything
Will be a culmination
On earth
As in heaven-

Loneliness Or Solitude?

Loneliness
Gave up its bed
In a room
No one occupied
When I began
To reminisce..
Familiar sound
Was just my breath

Yet another voice
In solitude
Came
Gently as a zephyr
&
Thoughts
Like particles of dust
So scattered
Found there rest

But just why
It took this length
I've pondered..
Loneliness-
Your
Solitude..
I won't spurn it-

Where The Clouds Dance

The Elements- For Sunday Stills, can be found here- (Under Indigo skies)

The clouds know how to dance
In Kohala
Over the sea
It's where the trees lean
&
The grass stays green

Someone was driving
Kinda fast
Yet the best display
May of been
Looking out past my glass-

So It's One Step Foreward

Gathered together
As representatives of the whole-
Of God's mind and intentions.
(I'm looking to the unseen)
We are living stones
Being fitted together..
So it's one step forward

Passed a cemetery
On the way home
I'd seen a plastic angel
Looking over a grave-
Then I asked myself,
Do I replace the organic
For symbols
Of what I won't walk out
In experience?
Maybe two steps backwards?
I shudder
An hope it's introspection?

Later scanning
An endless database
It is I,
Looking over names
Origins of far off countries
What could be my linage
In time once, but no more
My body feels so heavy,
Anchored like a ball an chain
I'd like to shake the dust
From my feet
An fly up to the clouds
Weightless, beyond the earth an sea

Then I could hear this song
Gathering momentum,
Just before yesterday caught up..
Lifted all my faith
&
Hopes-
Beyond those clouds to triumph

I'd cleaned the glass
Just to glimpse a better view-
On the tails of a full moon
When night descends..
And we are living stones
Being fitted together
So it's one step forward-

Under The California Sun

I’d longed once,
For a days Promise
When my feet rose to greet-
Sidewalks warming
Neighbor kids
&
The walls we’d climbed
For pomegranates ripe
Under the California sun

No jewels decked
My hands or neck
Just the gold in my hair
With the earth it collected

Crimson juice
And scattered peels
Left on curbs
We sat along

My heart, it skipped a beat...
Was but youth, in its season-
Under the California Sun

Let's be perfectly clear- the war on free speech is spiritual!
